The Forest2Fabric project aims to value acorn as a raw material for active textiles, particularly for anti-bacterial and anti-viral textiles.
The Forest2Fabric project was supported by the ”la Caixa” Foundation through the fourth contest of the Promove Program, aimed at boosting the border regions of the interior of Portugal. The competition for innovative and strategic projects is promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation in partnership with the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Tech4MED, together with CIMO from the IPB, and CITEVE, will evaluate the bioactive compounds present in acorns of interest to be applied in textiles. The project results will contribute to the production of high-added-value solutions for the textile industry, of global interest, with an impact on the forest sustainability and economic dynamics of the interior region of Portugal.
Between the 1st and 7th of June, we will be traveling from Nantes to Amsterdam with The Arch's program, ending up in Brussels at the European Commission to showcase Tech4MED's solutions to foster a sustainable Europe.
